Tax Return Deadline

In the UK, the tax return deadline depends on how you file your Self Assessment tax return:

Online Tax Return:

The deadline for submitting your Self Assessment tax return online is 31 January following the end of the tax year. For example, for the 2023/24 tax year (which runs from 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024), the deadline to submit your tax return online is 31 January 2025.

Paper Tax Return:

If you are submitting a paper tax return, the deadline is earlier, on 31 October following the end of the tax year. For the 2023/24 tax year, the deadline for paper returns is 31 October 2024.

Payment Deadline:

The deadline for paying any tax due is also 31 January following the end of the tax year. So, for the 2023/24 tax year, any tax owed must be paid by 31 January 2025.
